What are we looking for?
At Pegamento, we develop front-end solutions that are used daily by thousands of end users in mobile apps, portals, embedded chat and video interfaces, dashboards and more. Not prototypes, but solutions that speed up customer interactions, simplify processes and really help users.
And: you are never alone. You work together with a team that is ______:
- Proprietary neural networks train on our on-premise GPU infrastructure,
- Private LLMs running (such as GPT-4 OSS or LLaMA), both in the data center and on-device,
- SIP and other real-time communication protocols integrates into apps,
- And builds solutions that function within complex customer environments with stringent requirements around privacy, security and performance.
We’re not looking for a front-ender who “knows React,” but someone who builds with vision: component-oriented, scalable, maintainable – and who understands what it means to be front-end in a world full of APIs, AI and real-time connections.
What do we expect from you in this role?
Within your first 90 days:
- Deliver at least one working functionality (web or mobile), aligned with design and backend, in production.
- Actively participate in code reviews, refinements and architecture sessions.
- Work with colleagues to integrate APIs, SIP calls, mobile data storage or a UI flow around an embedded model, depending on the project.
Within 12 months, we expect you to:
- Completed at least two projects or modules independently in a complex setting (think: offline support, device-specific logic, privacy-first design).
- Takes the lead in establishing or restructuring front-end architecture within an app or project.
- Co-build our shared component library, hooks, patterns and CI/CD pipelines for mobile and web delivery.
- Contributes to translating technical capabilities such as AI/LLMs, SIP integration or real-time events into usable UX solutions for users.
What do you bring?
- At least 2 years of experience with React, React Native and/or PhP in a production environment.
- For React, you are comfortable with:
- TypeScript, component-based design (React, React Native)
- GraphQL with Apollo client
- State management (Zustand, Apollo cache, React context or similar)
- Styling: Tailwind CSS, Radix UI
- Navigation and routing (React Navigation, React Router)
- CI/CD for mobile/web (Bitbucket pipelines or similar)
- For PhP, you are comfortable with:
- Laravel
- Working beyond standard applications
- Understanding of architectural principles such as feature-based folder structure, separation of concerns, lazy loading, context vs. props
- Worked with standard databases such as MySQL, MariaDB and linking to APIs.
- Working with AI tooling such as Cursor or Claude Code.
- Collaborative ability: you will build with backend engineers, AI specialists and designers as one team.
- Fluent Dutch or English.
- Nice extras include experience in/with:
- Real-time communication (SIP, WebRTC)
- In-app use of AI models or LLMs
- Performant design for mobile devices
Not working with AI or SIP yet? No problem, we look at vision, learning capability and technical maturity, not checklists.
What can you expect from us?
- You will join a team that sometimes jokingly calls itself “the Josti band” – because we are all different, have our own rhythm, and yet together we create something special. Sometimes chaotic, often sharp, always fun. Expect no hierarchy, but lots of ownership and dry humor.
- Projects with direct social impact – not massive SaaS, but real solutions for real people
- Technology that matters – proprietary AI stacks, proprietary platform, no vendor lock-ins
- Hybrid working – our office in Zeist is nice, but you set your pace
- Team that is sharp and continuously learning together
- Flexible working hours – minimum 32 hours per week
- Lots of room for growth – substantive and personal
- Friday afternoon drinks, hackathons, running group … and what do you like?
What does the application look like?
We believe in collaboration from day one. That’s why our process consists of:
- Introduction (45 min) – who are you, what are you good at, what do you want to learn?
- Technical talk (1 hour) – we discuss code, choices, architecture and how you think.
- Team interaction – you’ll collaborate twice for 2 hours (outside working hours) on a real customer case with our team. No whiteboard, no demo app, but real life.
- Evaluation & offering – with room for two-way feedback, transparent expectations and future path.
And now?
Are you a developer who builds with long term in mind?
Who believes that good frontend doesn’t start with pixels, but with vision?
Then send us:
- A brief motivation: what do you want to build, and why?
- An example (repo, video, snippet, case) that you are proud of
- Your resume or profile
